Embracing Love: Understanding God's Affection for You

Chapter 1: The Challenge of Accepting Love
Accepting love can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. While you may easily express affection towards others, you might find yourself feeling isolated and unable to receive love in return. If this resonates with you, then God has a vital message to share.
Jesus and His Identity
“And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased’” (Mark 1:11, NIV). Jesus spent years learning from John the Baptist, aware of His unique purpose in life and His belonging to the Father. However, as His time with John was coming to an end, Jesus faced an uncertain and lonely path ahead. At this pivotal moment, He needed reassurance from God.
Three Essential Truths from God
During His baptism by John, Jesus heard God’s voice affirming His identity as the Beloved. This moment revealed three essential truths that every child should hear from their parents. Embracing these messages can empower you to accept the love that others are eager to give. Here are the three truths God wants you to internalize:
You Belong to Me.
“You are my son…” (Mark 1:11, NIV).
God claims you as His own, and nothing can alter that reality. The early Christians faced immense persecution, yet Peter reminded them of their identity: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…” (1 Peter 2:9, NIV).
I Love You Unconditionally.
“You are my Son, whom I love…” (Mark 1:11, NIV).
God’s love for you is boundless, unwavering, and beyond comprehension. Accepting this love is crucial, as it serves as the foundation of your strength and resilience. True fulfillment comes from embracing God’s love wholeheartedly (John 10:10). The Apostle Paul reassures us that nothing can sever our bond with this love: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us…” (Rom. 8:38–39, NIV).

This video delves into the barriers we create that prevent us from receiving love, exploring the reasons behind our hesitance and offering insights on overcoming these challenges.
I Am Proud of You.
“You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11, NIV).
God not only loves you but takes pride in you. You might wonder, “Me?” Yes, you! God is proud of who you are and your efforts, simply for being His creation.
A personal example: When my daughter graduated from high school, I wanted to create something meaningful for her. Rather than purchasing a gift, I chose to draw her portrait. Although my skills were rusty, the effort and love behind that drawing made it invaluable to me. This illustrates how God views you—not for your achievements, but for your inherent worth as His masterpiece.
Feel the embrace of His love! Allow yourself to soak in His unwavering affection for you.
