Chapter 1: Embracing Kindness in Unexpected Places
Here’s the latest edition of my weekly newsletter, Renaissance, which I share every Monday morning. It’s packed with insights, inspiration, and a touch of dad humor. If you enjoy what you read, consider subscribing!
What I’m Learning: The Inspiring Story Behind KIND Bars
The remarkable backstory of KIND bars begins during the Holocaust, when a Nazi soldier secretly gave a starving child a spoiled potato. While rotten potatoes are far from desirable, this act of kindness achieved two profound outcomes:
- It saved the child’s life, demonstrating that even in the darkest times, kindness can prevail.
- It motivated the child’s son to establish a billion-dollar company rooted in kindness.
Despite the fact that KIND bars often get lodged in my teeth, this incredible origin story has changed my perception of the brand forever.
What’s on My Mind: Focusing on the Good in a Troubling World
This past week has been filled with tragic events, and while discussions about gun control are necessary, it’s clear to me that America faces a significant issue with gun violence.
I don’t want to downplay the horror of recent events, but I also recognize that absorbing constant news about tragedies, like the recent school shooting in Texas, can be detrimental to your mental health.
There’s a delicate balance between staying informed and getting trapped in a negativity loop perpetuated by the media. I’ll admit that I often prefer to shield myself from the news to protect my emotional well-being.
Is this selfish? Certainly. However, prioritizing my mental state enables me to be someone others enjoy being around and helps me contribute positively to the world.
Just as your diet impacts your physical health, the media you consume shapes your identity and future. To help you cultivate a Renaissance spirit and become the best version of yourself, I recommend a resource I turn to when negativity seems overwhelming: the Good News Network. This media outlet is dedicated to sharing uplifting and inspirational stories.
Noticing the difference in how reading positive headlines affects your mood compared to typical news stories is crucial. Remember, in spite of the negativity, the majority of people are still kind-hearted and amazing! :)
What’s Igniting My Passion?
Occasionally, I stumble upon something so fantastic that it inspires me to create a new section in my newsletter. Here’s the best TikTok you’ll ever watch—thank me later!

Chapter 2: The Power of Commitment in Personal Growth
On the latest episode of The Dare to Dream Podcast, Gregory and Vincent delve into the importance of keeping your word to yourself and others. Life presents many uncontrollable challenges, but one thing we can manage is honoring our commitments.
Significant transformation occurs when you commit to a goal and resist the urge to back out. Emotions can hinder our motivation, but when we commit, we push through—even when we’d rather not.
By consistently following through on your promises, you earn the trust of others and develop self-respect. Trust yourself, and take pride in your achievements.
