# Exploring the Science Behind Vibes: Insights from the Universe

Chapter 1: Understanding Vibes
Have you ever met someone and instantly sensed a particular vibe from them? These vibes can be positive or negative, and it appears that both our conscious and subconscious minds are adept at interpreting these feelings. In a recent meeting, I found myself tuning into the vibes of those present. Is it just me, or do others experience this as well? People often express sentiments like, “I didn’t feel a good vibe from him” or “I enjoyed the positive energy she brought to the gathering.”
But what causes us to perceive these vibes, even before entering a building? Throughout my life, I've encountered strong feelings about entire neighborhoods or cities. After returning to Johannesburg from a coastal vacation, I told a friend I could feel an oppressive heaviness in the atmosphere. Given the city’s reputation for violent crime, I wondered if I was subconsciously picking up on the collective pain and suffering of its residents. Was my knowledge influencing my feelings, or was it the other way around?
The universe is a tapestry of vibrations. Atoms vibrate, and instead of merely viewing the universe as a collection of particles, physicist Sean Carroll suggests we should consider it as a network of fields. This perspective might help explain why we experience good or bad vibes. Our biological systems interpret these fields through our emotions and nervous systems.
Numerous studies have indicated that emotional residues exist in spaces we occupy; we can absorb the emotions that linger from previous occupants. For instance, why do properties where tragedies have occurred often remain unsold or sell for significantly less? Might this phenomenon be attributed to emotional residue? This challenges strict materialist views and suggests there is more complexity to the universe than we comprehend, reminiscent of Einstein’s concept of “spooky action at a distance.” What remarkable discoveries might lie ahead?
To me, this interplay between fields theory and emotional residue is intriguing. It suggests that as living beings, we are deeply affected by these vibrations, resulting in our perceptions of good or bad vibes. Perhaps the wisdom of the hippies was prescient, tapping into scientific truths long before they were formally recognized.

Why do some beings seem more conscious than others? What about rats, bats, cockroaches, or even bacteria? These questions invite us to consider the broader implications of consciousness and vibration.

The hippies had a unique understanding of how vibrations shape our experiences in the world—a concept that resonates with contemporary scientific findings.
