In my journey toward enduring happiness, I've realized that adopting just one new habit can make all the difference. As I age, I find myself appreciating solitude more than ever. In my younger years, I thrived on socializing, but now, the constant hustle feels exhausting both mentally and physically.
Instead, I cherish quiet moments at home, especially on a Friday night, relishing the peace that allows my mind to settle. My thoughts often swirl with ideas, making it crucial for me to carve out time for myself. This is my opportunity to relax, meditate, and clear my mental clutter. Self-care is essential, and finding time to prioritize myself is vital.
To cultivate true happiness, it's imperative to look inward. Understanding who we are—our personalities and passions—guides us toward what genuinely brings us joy. While indulging in my favorite meal might bring momentary pleasure, I'm in search of a more profound and sustainable sense of happiness.
When meeting someone new, we often engage in light conversation to learn about them—asking about their interests, families, and careers. As friendships develop, we discover ways to make our friends happy. Yet, we often neglect this process when it comes to ourselves. Just as we invest time in understanding others, we must also dedicate time to exploring our own interests and desires.
Chapter 2: Embracing New Experiences
Over the past few years, I've had ample time to reflect and explore. I made a conscious decision not to let this time slip away. I ventured into various hobbies and sought new experiences whenever possible. Some activities, such as teaching English to children, surprised me with their fulfillment. Writing, in particular, emerged as a newfound passion.
If I hadn't taken the initiative to explore, I would have remained trapped in a monotonous routine. With solitude came the opportunity to delve deeper into my identity. There are countless ways to gain self-awareness, from taking personality assessments to engaging in therapy, which can reveal subconscious patterns.

As I became my own best friend, I gained awareness of triggers that could lead to unhappiness, allowing me to avoid them intentionally. Conversely, I also identified what brings me joy and rearranged my priorities to embrace those elements in my life. Now, I'm actively pursuing my passions and goals.
