Esperança introduces a fresh push mode where players will encounter a central robot at the start of each match. Teams are tasked with guiding this robot down a designated path toward the enemy's territory to secure victory.

Art director Dion Rodgers explained that Esperança boasts a winding path with varying elevations, offering a dynamic environment filled with flanking opportunities. Importantly, players won't have to endure lengthy returns to the action after respawning, thanks to multiple access points that enhance mobility.

Rodgers emphasized the map's symmetrical design, ensuring equitable gameplay for both teams. Although the layout will be similar on either side, subtle differences in colors and textures will help players easily identify their location.
The development team prioritized authenticity, drawing on the expertise of their lead environmental artist and several staff members from Portugal. They conducted extensive research, including studying travel photos and literature about the region, to recreate an accurate representation of the locale.

Blizzard even dispatched a sound team to Portugal to record ambient sounds, aiming for an immersive experience within the map. The level of detail was so impressive that one team member's spouse reportedly became emotional upon seeing the map's fidelity.
