Chapter 1: Career Fair Essentials
All students, regardless of their institution, are encouraged to participate in career fairs. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to showcase their skills and stand out among peers. As we approach the Fall semester, it's crucial to begin the application and interview process for summer internships in 2024. Delaying your search until Spring 2024 can limit your options.

Section 1.1: Timing Your Internship Search
It's important to note that roughly half of my students secure summer internships in the Fall, while the other half do so in the Spring. Thus, it's never too late to start your search. Presently, there are over 5,000 Supply Chain Management (SCM) internships available and more than 28,000 business-related internships listed online.
In the academic year 2020-2021, SCM emerged as the 89th most popular major nationwide, with nearly 11,000 degrees awarded. For those interested, you can explore the Top 100 Internships, even if rankings can be subjective.
Section 1.2: The Importance of Negotiation
Should students negotiate their internship offers, particularly regarding salary? Absolutely. Many organizations are currently offering compensation that falls 20-30% below market rates. The average salary for a supply chain internship is about $44,918 annually, translating to approximately $21.60 per hour. While the lower end of the spectrum sees salaries around $37K per year, the top 10% can earn up to $54K.
Chapter 2: Interview Preparation
Many students are curious about STAR interviews and automated screening processes. The STAR technique is a structured approach for answering behavioral interview questions by detailing the Situation, Task, Action, and Result. This method is commonly employed by a variety of companies.
