Embracing Progress: Celebrating Every Small Step in Writing

Chapter 1: Celebrating Small Victories
I've recently published my initial two articles on Medium—cue the happy dance!
Setting aside any expectations or metrics, I'm taking a moment to relish the joyful aftermath of sharing my first pieces. After years of keeping my writing private, it feels incredibly freeing to express myself once more.
One challenge I've always faced is the overwhelming number of thoughts and ideas swirling in my mind. Writing offers an immediacy that allows me to articulate ideas more swiftly compared to my artistic endeavors. With each thought captured on paper, I feel a sense of clarity and lightness. I've even compiled a list of 50 potential article topics, which excites me as it gives me a solid foundation to build upon.
My thirst for improvement is palpable; I'm eager to discover new strategies to enhance my writing. Countless times, I've found myself delving into research, exploring topics, and perusing articles by Medium writers whose formatting and structural techniques I admire.
Despite my initial awkwardness, I'm beginning to reconnect with my true self. Many writers on Medium have shared their journeys, showcasing their growth with transparency. Their openness serves as motivation and a valuable resource for newcomers like myself.
While I aspire to grow on this platform and others, my current focus is on cultivating my writing habits and establishing a supportive system. As James Clear articulates in Atomic Habits, "If you want better results, then forget about setting goals. Focus on your system instead."
Like many, I have previously fallen into the trap of striving for a goal only to lose momentum once I achieve it. Thus, I'm embarking on my Medium adventure with the intention of writing daily, organizing my thoughts, and connecting with fellow writers—the system itself is my goal.
There are numerous aspects of my life that could benefit from adopting this mindset, and I'm thrilled for what lies ahead.
How do I plan to celebrate this achievement? By taking my dog to the park, finding a cozy patch of grass, and doing even more writing.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my articles—your support means the world to me.
