Embracing Change: The Benefits of Quitting My Job

Written on

Chapter 1: The Gains from Quitting

After resigning from my job, I have experienced several positive changes. Here are four key benefits I’ve noticed:

  1. Awareness of Spending: My decision to reduce my working hours has prompted me to evaluate my grocery expenses. I’ve become more mindful of my purchases, discovering ways to cut costs while opting for healthier choices. This shift not only benefits my family but also contributes positively to the environment.
  2. Quality Family Time: I’ve rediscovered the joy of spending meaningful moments with my children. Instead of being glued to screens, we now engage in playful activities and heartfelt conversations about their dreams and feelings, as well as my own hopes for our future together.
  3. Emotional Resilience: In my previous role in social care, I often felt overwhelmed by the trauma faced by those I assisted. I now recognize that my deep emotional involvement was detrimental to my well-being. With the space to reflect, I’ve gained insight into the toll it took on me, something I didn’t have time to realize while working full-time.
  4. Reevaluating Money's Value: After crunching the numbers, I found that I might be approximately £400 short each month. However, the mental and holistic benefits I’m gaining for my family far outweigh any financial concerns.

In conclusion, I feel confident in my choice to leave my job, as it has prevented me from reaching a state of complete burnout. I now possess the physical and mental energy to cultivate fruits, vegetables, and flowers alongside my children, fostering a deeper appreciation for nature in our garden.

Nevertheless, I acknowledge that I may need to seek additional work once summer concludes to supplement my income.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have!

Thank you for your time, Love, Uneeka ❤️
